BLAST for Chrome: Perform BLAST Searches Directly from the Address Bar
BLAST for Chrome is a free extension developed by Chiraag Kapadia that allows users to perform BLAST searches directly from the address bar of their Chrome browser. With this extension, users can simply type "blast" in the address bar, paste their DNA or protein sequence, and choose the desired BLAST program from the suggestions.
This extension saves users time by eliminating the need to navigate through NCBI's BLAST webpages. A BLAST query will be submitted with default settings and open in a new tab.
BLAST for Chrome currently supports multiple BLAST programs, including blastn, blastp, blastx, tblastn, and blastn. This provides users with the flexibility to search nucleotide and protein databases using both nucleotide and protein queries.
The developer, Chiraag Kapadia, also offers another extension called DNA Helper, which users may find useful in conjunction with BLAST for Chrome. The developer is open to adding new features as requested by users.
Performing BLAST searches has never been easier with BLAST for Chrome. Install this extension today and start BLASTing with convenience and efficiency!
